Two positive samples of zebra mussels have been detected in the St. Malo reservoir, the provincial government said Monday.
The reservoir is located in St. Malo Provincial Park, in southeastern Manitoba.
The reservoir is used by beachgoers and people using canoes and kayaks but is closed to gas-powered motorized watercraft. The provincial government is putting up signs to outline the requirements that must be followed to decontaminate watercraft to prevent the spread of zebra mussels and other aquatic invasive species.
Parks Canada announced Friday there’s evidence of a “localized” zebra mussel infestation at Clear Lake’s main boat cove in Riding Mountain National Park.
