Steinbach Credit Union is warning customers of ongoing scam phone calls from someone claiming to be an employee.
SCU previously said an “unauthorized third party” gained access to its contact centre’s call logs in November, with caller identification names, phone numbers and call dates the only information leaked.
The logs covered the previous 60-day period.
SCU said a service provider fixed the error, and the phone system is secure.
“We understand there continues to be members who are receiving calls from someone claiming to be an SCU employee,” a spokesperson said in a statement to the Free Press Monday. “It is likely this is related to the phone incident we reported on in November of last year.”
SCU said it will never ask members to share digital banking passwords or authentication codes.
