At least one person was hurt in a serious collision that has shut down a section of Portage Avenue in Westwood, city police said Friday morning.

The crash occurred in the area of Portage and Bedson Street shortly after 7:30 a.m.

A spokesman for the Winnipeg Police Service said shortly before 11 a.m. that Portage was expected to remain closed in both directions in the area of the crash for the “foreseeable future.”

A Winnipeg Transit shelter outside the YMCA at the southwest corner of Portage and Bedson was damaged in the crash. A pickup truck with front-end damage remained near pumps at the Canadian Tire gas bar on the other side of Bedson. A Winnipeg Transit bus was also at the scene.
