A union representing nearly 900 Manitoba Hydro workers has scheduled a strike vote for Friday.
Canadian Union of Public Employees 998 represents about 870 people working in information technology, customer engagement, and other technical and administrative support roles. It is the second-largest bargaining group at the public utility.
CUPE said the vote will follow months of bargaining where Manitoba Hydro has failed to present an adequate offer.
“We know Manitoba Hydro has settled with other workers within Hydro with fair collective agreements,” CUPE 998 president Michelle Bergen said in a release. “All CUPE members at Hydro want is fair treatment.”
