Suspect arrested after fatal stabbing near Little Grand Rapids

Mounties from Little Grand Rapids have a suspect in custody after a 29-year-old man was stabbed to death on a Manitoba First Nation Wednesday night.

In a news release Friday, Manitoba RCMP said a safety officer from Pauingassi First Nation notified police at 9:40 p.m. about a stabbing in the community, located 280 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, near the Ontario border.

The victim was found dead at a residence. Police launched a homicide investigation and arrested a suspect, a 20-year-old man from the same community, at 11:23 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
