Suspect sought in machete attack on youth

Police are searching for a suspect after a male youth was struck in the head with a machete Saturday.

The incident happened in the parking lot at Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, where an amusement park had been set up.

The victim suffered a cut to his head and was transported to The Pas hospital in stable condition. The weapon was seized at the scene.

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service asked witnesses or anyone with videos related to the incident to contact its Opaskwayak detachment at 204-623-8200, or the MFNPS tips line anonymously at 1-833-978-0048 or TIPS@mfnp.ca.
