City police have a suspect in custody after officers say he crashed into a trio of vehicles parked at a construction site, causing them significant damage.

Police were patrolling in the Pacific/McPhillips area around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday when a westbound vehicle sped past them, ignoring stop signs, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Monday.

“As it approached a construction area (on) the 1900 block of Alexander Avenue, it crashed into three parked vehicles, leaving them all undriveable. One of the parked vehicles was occupied by a driver who received minor injuries and was treated on scene,” the news release said.

Police arrested the suspect and found he had an outstanding warrant. The vehicle was previously reported stolen, and police found several edged weapons during the arrest, WPS said.

A 33-year-old man is facing 14 charges related to possessing weapons and stolen property, violating the conditions of a release order and dangerous driving.

He remains in custody.
