RCMP are investigating after two people were attacked with a knife in Ashern and two vehicles were hit by gunfire.

Police were sent to a business on Railway Avenue in the Interlake community at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers were told a female had attacked the pair — a 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman from Ashern — with a knife. Another male was seen entering the business with a gun, but he quickly departed, RCMP said.

Employees told officers shortly after that a gunshot had been heard from the parking lot. Officers determined a vehicle had been struck.

Both suspects fled the scene together, RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

The two victims went to hospital to be treated for minor injuries. While there, they learned their home had also been shot at and that a vehicle had been damaged.

Officers were unable to find either suspect.

Police asked anyone with information about the incidents to contact Ashern RCMP at 204-768-2311, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.
