Suspicious death in Pauingassi

Police are investigating a death in Pauingassi First Nation they consider suspicious.

Little Grand Rapids RCMP were told on the late morning of Sept. 12 about an assault two weeks earlier. The victim, 41-year-old Melissa Owens-Keeper of Pauingassi, was in critical condition at a Winnipeg hospital. She died in hospital Monday, RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.

RCMP major crimes services are investigating.

RCMP asked anyone with information about the assault, or who had contact with the victim between Aug. 30 and Sept. 12, to call the Little Grand Rapids detachment at 204-397-2249.
