A Swan River couple were threatened at gunpoint in their house during a home invasion on Wednesday night.

RCMP were called to the couple’s home on 1st Avenue South in the northwestern Manitoba town at about 10:15 p.m.

The couple, both in their mid-60s, were inside when they heard a knock on the front door, but before they could open it, a man and a woman in masks busted into the home and pushed their way past the homeowners, Mounties say.

The female suspect threatened to shoot the couple if they didn’t follow their orders, stole the female resident’s wallet and some acetaminophen pills, before the robbers left.

The homeowners weren’t seriously hurt and Mounties say the victims knew the female suspect, indicating the incident wasn’t random.

RCMP arrested a 41-year-old nearby. She’s to be charged with robbery with a firearm, breaking and entering and uttering threats. Mounties are still looking for the other suspect.
