Mounties have a suspect in custody after a man was slain on Sapotaweyak Cree Nation early Thursday morning.
Officers responded to reports of an injured man at a home on the First Nation, located northeast of Swan River and about 594 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, around 12:30 a.m., Manitoba RCMP said in a news release.
Police and emergency responders found a 57-year-old man with critical injuries and pronounced him dead on scene. A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man from a nearby residence, police said.
The suspect and victim knew each other, RCMP said.
