Teulon man, 86, dies in highway crash

An 86-year-old man from Teulon died in a collision in the Rural Municipality of Gimli on Thursday afternoon.

Gimli RCMP, along with local firefighters and paramedics, were called to the crash at the intersection of Highway 8 and Komarno Road at about 2:40 p.m.

The first responders found the Teulon man’s heavily damaged sedan in the southwest ditch, while a pickup truck with a badly damaged front end was on the highway.

RCMP say the sedan was headed west on Komarno Road when it collided with the pickup truck that was headed south on Highway 8.

The Teulon man was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver, a 48-year-old man from Niverville, was taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released.
