Thieves damage Garden Hill First Nation water treatment plant: RCMP

RCMP are investigating a break-in at the Garden Hill First Nation water treatment plant that has halted operations.

Island Lake Mounties were called to the plant at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, where staff said several suspects had entered the building in the early morning hours and damaged some of the machinery, RCMP said Friday.

Staff also reported that numerous power tools, necessary to the operation of the plant and worth more than $100,000, were stolen.

RCMP are asking anyone with information on the break-in to call the Island Lake detachment at 204-456-2626.
