Three charged in Magnus rooming house slaying

Winnipeg police have announced charges in the Thursday slaying of a 26-year-old man in a Magnus Avenue rooming house.

Homicide detectives have also identified the victim as Mitchell Michael Hanslip, who is from Lake Manitoba First Nation but was living in the city.

Patrol officers were called to the rooming house at 374 Magnus Ave., just east of Salter Street, at about 2:40 a.m. Thursday about a report of armed men. They arrested three men running from the scene, seized a gun and then found Hanslip dead.

Police said Friday that suspects, armed with weapons including a gun, forced their way into a suite and confronted the victim. The suspects fatally shot Hanslip, police said.

Isaiah Adrian Moose, 23, Sydney Vain Moose, 22, and Ashtan Cole Peters, 28, have all been charged with second-degree murder, firearms charges and court condition breaches.
