Three hospitalized after apartment fire on Gaylene Place

Three people have been sent to hospital, two in critical condition, after a fire trapped occupants inside an apartment building on Gaylene Place early Saturday.

Fire crews arrived just past 1:30 a.m. at the three-storey apartment building. One person had already jumped from a window of the suite where the fire started, and another was hanging from a window.

A Winnipeg Transit bus was used to provide shelter for the people who had to be evacuated.

The fire was under control by 2:11 a.m.

The fire is under investigation, and damage estimates are not yet available.
