Police are seeking video of a collision involving five vehicles in the West End on Monday morning.

The Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Tuesday that four vehicles were stopped at a red traffic light in the westbound lanes of Ellice Avenue at Banning Street when they were hit from behind by a 2017 Nissan Qashqai.

All the vehicles sustained significant damage and were inoperable, the WPS said.

The driver of the Qashqai, a man in his 70s, and a woman passenger in that vehicle were taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. Police did not mention a third injured person, but a spokesperson for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said earlier Tuesday that another person was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The intersection was closed for much of the day.

Police asked anyone with information or video that might help investigators to contact them at 204-986-7085, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or online.
