Reenders Drive in Transcona could soon have a higher speed limit.
City officials recommend Reenders see its current 50 km/h speed limit increased to 60 km/h, between about 170 metres east of Lagimodiere Boulevard’s eastern boundary and Peguis Street, pending city council approval.
A new city report suggests traffic studies found Reenders is suited to the higher speed.
The report also calls for a rectangular rapid flashing beacon to be added at a Transcona Boulevard crosswalk, about 620 metres east of Chelston Gate/Veterans Way, before or, in tandem with, any potential speed limit change there.
Any change to the Transcona Boulevard speed limit, which is 50 km/h between Veterans Way and Bienvenue Street, would be subject to a separate public report.
City council’s public works committee will consider the recommendations on Tuesday.
