Two charged in Stella Avenue slaying

Two people have been charged with murder in the death of a man on Stella Avenue late last month.

Winnipeg Police Service investigators have determined the death of 32-year-old Jamie Raymond Asham on May 30 was a homicide, police said on Monday. His death was initially considered suspicious.

Officers arrested one of their suspects, Nicole Marie Lagimodiere, 40, at a home on the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue last Thursday evening. Hours later, at about 1 a.m. on Friday, police arrested Lance Pavel Beardy, 33, at an apartment on Park East Drive. Both have been charged with second-degree murder and held in custody.

At around 8 a.m. on May 30, officers were sent to check on an individual’s wellbeing at a home on the 700 block of Stella Avenue, where they found Asham dead outside.

Asham, 32, was a member of Peguis First Nation who had been living in Winnipeg.
