Two in hospital after fire on Young Street

One person is in hospital in critical condition and a second person is in stable condition following a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey home on the 200 block of Young Street.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire around 5:30, the city said in a news release.

All but one person got out safely; firefighters rescued one person from the burning house.

Paramedics took one patient to hospital in critical condition and one patient in stable condition, the release said.

A firefighter was also taken to hospital in stable condition after being injured on site.

The blaze was considered under control in about an hour.

The cause is under investigation.
