Undercover officers arrange meetup to ‘buy’ stolen trailer

Two men are accused of stealing a trailer from a Winnipeg business and trying to sell it to undercover officers.
Police said someone driving a yellow Dodge Ram visited a business on the 4000 block of McGillivray Boulevard Monday between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and stole a 2024 Prairie Road utility trailer valued at $10,000.
After learning the trailer was being advertised on social media days later, Winnipeg Police Service investigators, posing as an interested buyer, arranged a meetup.
Officers went to a parking lot on the 100 block of Railway Street in Starbuck on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. as a yellow Dodge Ram pulled up towing the trailer.
Police arrested two men at the scene.
A 47-year-old man from Sanford was charged with multiple offences, including fraud over $5,000 and trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was detained in custody.
A 36-year-old man from Winnipeg was charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was released on an undertaking.
