Sets of Hot Wheels, a remote-control Super Mario and a pair of pool cues are among the unusual items up for bidding at the Winnipeg Police Service unclaimed goods auction.
The annual auction — one of two city police usually hold a year — began online Monday through private firm Associated Auto Auction and runs until March 18.
Items on the auction block are usually either found on city streets and turned in as possibly stolen to police, recovered as stolen goods or forfeited by the courts.
If, after 30 days, the rightful owner hasn’t reported the items stolen or it hasn’t been connected to a crime, it’s then held by WPS evidence control until the next auction.
There are 262 items up for auction, including power and hand tools, musical instruments and electronics, among various other goods.
Police said any unclaimed goods are sold as is, without having been tested or guaranteed, and that all sales are final.
