Winnipeg school secured after weapons call nearby

A North End school was secured as a precaution while officers dealt with a weapons-related incident at a nearby home Monday morning, according to Winnipeg police.

The secure protocol went into effect at Strathcona School, located on McKenzie Street, before the start of classes.

Officers arrested one person wanted on a warrant after they were called to a home in the 600 block of Alfred Avenue at about 7:30 a.m., said police.

The scene was later cleared. Police said there was no threat to the public.
