A woman accused of killing a man at a Toronto Street home on Saturday afternoon has been charged with manslaughter.
Winnipeg Police Service officers were called at about 3 p.m. Saturday to a “serious incident” at the home on the 700 block of Toronto, near Wellington Avenue, where they found a man suffering “life-threatening” injuries. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but died.
Police arrested a woman at the scene. Homicide detectives have identified the victim as Trencent Francois, 21. He lived in Winnipeg and was a member of Nelson House First Nation.
Precious Rayne Walker, 20, was charged with manslaughter and held in custody.
Detectives are still investigating the slaying and ask anyone with information that could be of assistance to call the homicide unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
Police spokesman Const. Pat Saydak said he did not know whether the victim and the accused knew each other prior to the killing.
Walker has not been convicted of a crime in Manitoba as an adult, court records show. She’s pending on a charge of mischief to property under $5,000 allegedly committed in May this year.
