Woman charged after Toronto Street shooting

The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate a shooting in the 600 block of Toronto Street that took place around 1 a.m. on Friday.

Police learned an altercation between a group of people and a man had occurred earlier outside of a hotel establishment on McPhillips Street. The parties went their separate ways and police received a report of a drive-by shooting on Toronto Street shortly after. The residence was vacant and nobody was injured.

A suspect vehicle was spotted nearby, and a woman was taken into custody. A loaded firearm and bear spray were seized from the vehicle.

The woman was charged with various firearm-related offences. She was detained in custody.
