Woman charged with assaulting a police officer

A 21-year-old woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly kicked a police officer in the face while being arrested for public intoxication.
The incident happened at an establishment in Windsor Park at about 3:15 a.m. Sept. 7. When Winnipeg Police Service officers were trying to arrest the woman, she pulled her arms away when they tried to put on handcuffs, she kicked the safety divider between the front and back seat in the cruiser. She then kicked one of the officers in the chest and face when they attempted to restrain her legs, WPS stated in a news release on Sunday.
The woman’s name hasn’t been publicly released. She faces charges of resisting a peace officer and assaulting a peace officer.
