A 48-year-old Thompson woman is dead after head-on collision on a Manitoba highway Friday morning.
The woman was driving southbound at around 10 a.m. on Highway 280, about 80 kilometres north of Thompson, “when she attempted to pass a semi-truck when it was unsafe to do so and collided head on with a northbound truck,” RCMP said in a news release Monday.
The woman died at the scene. The driver of the other truck, a 23-year-old man from Gimli, was treated in hospital.
Snow and poor visibility are believed to have played a factor in the crash, RCMP said.
