Zoo, Leaf announce temporary closures

Both the Assiniboine Park Zoo and the Leaf will be closed for several days this month.

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy said Friday the zoo will be closed for annual maintenance from Monday through Jan. 9. The work includes removing the Zoo Lights display, and doing minor repairs and deep cleaning of all the buildings.

The zoo will reopen at 9 a.m. on Jan. 10.

The Leaf’s biomes will be closed from Jan. 12 to Jan. 14 and again from Jan. 26 to Jan. 29.

The work during the first closure includes setting up Fleurs de Villes Wonder, with 15 floral mannequins designed by leading local floral designers, in the Babs Asper Display House — running from Jan. 15 to Jan. 25. The second closure will see that showcase removed and the new display, Nature’s Apothecary, set up for viewing on Jan. 30.
