Business is already heating up for a new family-owned HVAC company that aims to be a leader in the industry.
In November 2022, cousins John Chua and Norman Castaneda teamed up to launch NEDA Heating and Cooling. Since then, they’ve been pleased to help customers find the right solutions for their heating, ventilation and air conditioning needs.
“We envisioned building a company that would take care of Winnipeggers for their HVAC needs,” said Chua, NEDA’s chief executive officer.

“We partnered up so we could start the business and make that happen.”
Serving as NEDA’s president and director of operations, Castaneda brings with him ample experience in the heating and cooling industry. This first-hand knowledge propels him to take a different approach with their family business.
“Everyone’s claim to fame is that they’re the best HVAC company, but we want people to know that we’re different,” Castaneda said. “We hope to pique their interest so they will want to discover what makes us stand out.”
Before they embarked on their entrepreneurial venture, the cousins closely examined some of the main challenges that customers might encounter when dealing with other HVAC companies. Together, they brainstormed on better ways to run a business.
“We threw around some scenarios because we want to be able to address all of those issues,” Castaneda said. “We want to be more involved in the whole sales process.”

Along with their talented team, the cousins are well poised to succeed.
“With the individuals who are involved within our company, we have close to 20 years’ experience in the HVAC industry. We have our home comfort advisors who deal directly with our customers, as well as our technicians and office staff. At the same time, John and I are basically only a phone call away as well,” he said.
“We’re not afraid to give customers our direct phone numbers if they need to reach us at any hour of the day and any day of the week.”
They also endeavour to find solutions to their customers’ concerns, including those related to costs.
“If a customer calls an HVAC company because they need a furnace, the company gives them a quote on the furnace — but no one’s really diving deeper into the needs and the wants of the customer. They’re just being sold a product, not a solution. Most importantly, no one’s looking at what makes financial sense for people,” Castaneda said.
“One of the main challenges is this financial aspect. We want to be able to help out to customers from all walks of life.”

So far, they’ve discovered that their personalized approach sets NEDA apart from other heating and cooling companies.
“We want to help people, and that’s the methodology we’re taking. We don’t just want to sell products to people — we want to make sure we understand what their financial situation is and what makes the most financial sense for them. At the same time, the customer is purchasing an excellent quality product backed with a great warranty,” Castaneda said.
“We want give back to the community in a positive way because we know how to operate an HVAC company properly. We know exactly what it takes to be the top-tier HVAC company in the city.”
Looking ahead to the future, Chua is grateful to have the financial resources to ensure that NEDA Heating and Cooling will be in operation for a long time.
“We’re pleased to be able to serve our customers and to give them peace of mind knowing that we’re not going anywhere,” he said.
“We plan to be around for a very long time and for generations to come.”
