The British Columbia Prosecution Service says an RCMP highway patrol officer is facing two charges under the Motor Vehicle Act after a crash last year.

A statement from the service says the crash occurred on July 10 in the community of Okanagan Falls, south of Penticton.

The constable was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign and driving without due care and attention.

The first hearing is scheduled for July 19 in Penticton provincial court.

The prosecution service says the charges were approved by a Crown lawyer who had no connection with the officer.

It released no further information about the case.
