A 28-year-old man was found dead under an all-terrain vehicle on Sunday morning in the Bas-St-Laurent region.

Emergency services were called around 7 a.m. after an ATV overturned on the road from Saint-Benoit to Packington, more than 80 kilometers south of Rivière-du-Loup.

Provincial police spokesman Sgt. Stéphane Tremblay says workers discovered the body under the vehicle in a ditch.

The victim, originally from Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, was taken to a hospital where his death was confirmed.

Police say the accident may have happened several hours before the body was discovered.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
