WINNIPEG – RCMP say a 33-year-old man has died after a fight among inmates at Stony Mountain Institution.
Mounties say they responded to a large fight at the federal prison north of Winnipeg early on Monday evening.
They say some inmates involved had what police describe as edged weapons, but did not say what they were.
One inmate from Winnipeg was pronounced dead at the scene.
Seven others were injured and taken to hospital.
The RCMP’s major crimes and forensic identification services are investigating.
