RUSTON, La. (AP) — Daniel Batcho’s 19 points helped Louisiana Tech defeat UTEP 68-54 on Thursday night.

Batcho added 12 rebounds and seven blocks for the Bulldogs (14-6, 4-1 Conference USA). Tahlik Chavez was 6-of-10 shooting, including 3 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 6 from the foul line to add 18 points. Isaiah Crawford was 4-of-8 shooting and 1 of 3 from the free-throw line to finish with nine points.

The Miners (11-9, 2-3) were led in scoring by Otis Frazier III, who finished with 11 points and two steals. Tae Hardy added 11 points for UTEP. David Terrell Jr. also recorded eight points, five assists and two steals.

Louisiana Tech took the lead with 10:15 left in the first half and did not relinquish it. Batcho led his team in scoring with 12 points in the first half to help put them up 34-27 at the break. Louisiana Tech pulled away with a 14-2 run in the second half to extend a two-point lead to 14 points. They outscored UTEP by seven points in the final half, as Chavez led the way with a team-high 15 second-half points.
