MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Xavier Johnson scored the game-winning layup with two seconds left and scored 16 points to lead Southern Illinois past Murray State 60-58 on Saturday.

Johnson added six assists for the Salukis (14-7, 6-4 Missouri Valley Conference). Trent Brown scored 16 points while shooting 6 for 12, including 3 for 8 from beyond the arc. AJ Ferguson was 3 of 6 shooting, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 7 from the line to finish with 14 points.

Rob Perry finished with 14 points and three steals for the Racers (8-13, 5-5). Jacobi Wood added 14 points and two steals for Murray State. Brian Moore Jr. also had 14 points.

Southern Illinois next plays Wednesday against Missouri State at home. Murray State hosts Illinois State on Tuesday.
