VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Malik Dia’s 25 points helped Belmont defeat Valparaiso 96-78 on Saturday night.

Dia was 8 of 14 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 8 for 11 from the line for the Bruins (14-11, 7-7 Missouri Valley Conference). Ja’Kobi Gillespie added 18 points while shooting 7 for 9 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 2 of 5 from the free throw line, and also had six assists. Cade Tyson had 16 points and finished 5 of 7 from 3-point range.

The Beacons (6-19, 2-12) were led in scoring by Cooper Schwieger, who finished with 16 points. Darius DeAveiro added 14 points and four assists for Valparaiso. In addition, Jaxon Edwards had 13 points. The loss was the Beacons’ sixth in a row.
