PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Freddy Hicks had 23 points in Arkansas State’s 89-62 victory against Louisiana on Saturday night in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Hicks added seven rebounds for the Red Wolves (16-15, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference). Taryn Todd scored 18 points and added five rebounds. Derrian Ford had 18 points and went 7 of 10 from the field. The Red Wolves picked up their seventh straight victory.

Hosana Kitenge led the way for the Ragin’ Cajuns (18-13, 1-1) with 15 points, two steals and two blocks. Kobe Julien added 15 points for Louisiana. Kentrell Garnett had 13 points.

Arkansas State took the lead with 13:04 left in the first half and did not give it up. The score was 48-33 at halftime, with Ford racking up 14 points. Arkansas State extended its lead to 87-58 during the second half, fueled by a 7-0 scoring run.
