WINNIPEG – Police say two men from Saskatoon have been charged after an attempted robbery involving high-end shoes in Winnipeg.
They say a man in his 40s was meeting a friend in the West Alexander neighbourhood on New Year’s Day to sell the shoes.
When he got into his friend’s vehicle, investigators say someone hiding in the back seat surprised the would-be seller at gunpoint.
Police say the seller managed to jump out of the speeding car with the shoes, sustaining minor injuries.
Several hours later, two 20-year-old men from Saskatoon were arrested near Whitewood, Saskatchewan, and now face charges in Winnipeg of armed robbery using a restricted or prohibited firearm and forcible confinement.
Police say both were detained.
