WINNIPEG – Police in Winnipeg say a dispute that began with a woman trying to save a spot in a parking lot ended with her being knocked down by an SUV.
Officers responded to a commercial area in the city’s west end on Saturday afternoon where they say a woman in her 30s had been standing in an open parking spot saving it for her family, who were driving through the lot at a recreational facility.
As she waited for them to approach, police say an SUV arrived first and the driver and the woman argued over saving the spot.
Police allege the SUV drove into the parking stall, knocking the woman to the ground and trapping her under the vehicle’s front tires.
The vehicle then drove off without concern for the victim on the ground, and police say the woman was taken to hospital in stable condition with lower body injuries.
A 40-year-old woman who police allege was the driver was later found and arrested, and she faces charges of assault with a weapon and careless driving.
