OTTAWA – Ottawa police say one person is dead and one person is injured after a reported shooting in the Nepean suburb.

In a social media update shortly after 11 a.m., police said officers were called to Craig Henry Drive for reports of shots fired.

Later in the evening, police confirmed that a 20-year-old man died of his injuries and a 21-year-old man is in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the homicide unit is actively investigating the incident and that no one is in custody at this time.

It comes after police issued a statement on Friday to recognize what it called the city’s “concern and unease” after three killings in a week.

In the statement, police say the cases are not connected but it does not “make them any less tragic”.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published April 6, 2025.
