Food-delivery

driver stabbed

A teenage male is facing charges after a food-delivery driver was stabbed in St. Vital on Monday night.

Police were sent to a business on the 1000 block of St. Mary’s Road at about 10:30 p.m. and found an injured 38-year-old man. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

Officers arrested a male in the area and found a folding knife on him, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Thursday.

Investigators learned the victim was sitting in the driver’s seat when a male tried to open a rear door. The driver got out and confronted the male, and an argument started, leading to the stabbing.

The victim fled to a nearby business.

A 16-year-old male is facing charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. He was released on an undertaking.
