Police in Peel Region say a woman is dead after being struck by a pickup truck west of Toronto early this morning.

Police say they were called to the scene near Countryside Road and Airport Road in Brampton, Ont., at around 7:15 a.m.

They say a pedestrian had been hit by a pickup truck.

Police say a woman was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

They say the pickup truck driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.

Police say no other injuries were reported, and they’re asking the public to avoid the area.
