POINTE-DU-CHÊNE – New Brunswick RCMP say they’ve charged a man with several offences after he allegedly impersonated a peace officer in Pointe-du-Chêne.
Police say officers received information on Tuesday about a man in possession of what was believed to be a retired police car, police uniforms and other equipment, and who was intending to commit criminal offences while impersonating a police officer.
Police say later that day, officers executed a search warrant at two residences in Pointe-du-Chêne and arrested a 58-year-old man at one of the residences.
They say police seized two firearms, several police uniforms and equipment, and the man was charged with unlawfully conspiring to impersonate a peace officer.
After an appearance in court in Moncton on Friday, police say the man was charged with several additional charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and arson.
The man remains in custody and is set to appear in court again next week.
