The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says an officer “engaged the driver, which resulted in that officer firing their service pistol.”

The 36-year-old was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Sgt. Neil Thompson faces one count of aggravated assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
