An eight-year-old has died after being ejected from an all-terrain vehicle in a collision in Plummer Additional Township, Ont., on Friday night.

OPP and paramedics responded to the scene around 7 p.m. after two ATVs collided in a field in the township, about 60 kilometres east of Sault Ste. Marie. 

The child was transported to hospital in Thessalon and was later pronounced dead.

The OPP continues to investigate. 

A post-mortem will take place in Sudbury at a later date.
