MONTREAL – Montreal police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run.

Emergency services were called at around 7:45 p.m. Friday to help a woman lying on the road at 25th Avenue in the Lachine borough.

The 57-year-old woman was conscious when she was taken to hospital, but later died of her injuries.

Police spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant says the evidence suggests a driver collided with the victim and then drove away without stopping.

Brabant is asking anyone with information to call 911.

He says investigators are speaking with witnesses and checking cameras, and they will return to the scene today to look for more evidence to help them identify the vehicle and driver.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 27, 2025.
