SUMMERSIDE – Summerside police and the P.E.I. fire marshal’s office are investigating a suspicious residential fire.
In a release, the city’s police department says they received a call about the fire on Belmont Street at approximately 11:38 Saturday night.
The sole resident of the two-storey building was evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

However, two buildings are considered a total loss, and a third sustained significant damage.
The Major Crimes Unit, along with the fire marshal, are now investigating the cause of the fire, which they have labelled suspicious.
Police are asking residents in the area with external doorbell cameras or other surveillance cameras to contact them.
