Durham Regional Police say they are investigating after a male died from gunshot wounds at a local hospital.

Police say officers received a call at around 11 p.m. about a person who was dropped off at the hospital after being shot.

They say officers located a “related scene” in the area of Mara Road and Simcoe Street in Beaverton, Ont., a short time later.

Police say their forensic identification unit will remain on-scene.

They say their homicide unit is leading the investigation.

Police say investigators believe it was an isolated incident.
