ST. JOHN’S – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has charged a man for allegedly intimidating a witness in his manslaughter trial.
The force says it received a report Wednesday that the man was communicating with and intimidating a witness due to be called in the trial, which is taking place in provincial Supreme Court.
Const. Stephanie Myers says the man was arrested this morning outside the Supreme Court and taken across the street to provincial court to appear on the new charges.
Myers says the manslaughter trial has been postponed until Dec. 9.
The man is accused in the 2022 death of a 71-year-old man in St. John’s.
He is now facing charges for allegedly breaching a court order and intimidating a justice system participant.
