HALIFAX – Nova Scotia RCMP have arrested and charged a Chapel Island man with multiple counts of child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Police said Sunday they responded earlier this month to a report of a man allegedly trying to enter a home in the area to see a youth who was inside.

Mounties allege the man began an online relationship with the youth in September.

Police arrested 21-year-old Ethan Arnold Battiste at his home and seized an electronic device.

Battiste has been charged with multiple offences, including three counts of sexual assault and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

RCMP say there could be additional victims, given the online nature of the charges, and encourage others to come forward.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 30, 2025.
