MONTRÉAL – A man in his 30s died Sunday after a fire broke out in a tent in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough of Montreal.

Montreal police say they received a 911 call at around 7:50 a.m. about the tent fire near Iberville Street and Masson Street.

Police spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant says firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.

He says first responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The investigation has been transferred to the police force’s arson section.

Brabant says investigators with review surveillance camera footage, and an autopsy will be performed.
