OSHAWA – Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a suspect after a man was allegedly stabbed to death in Oshawa, Ont., early Tuesday morning. 

Durham regional police say a passerby called 911 to report the incident, which happened near Park Road South and John Street at around 4:15 am. 

They say the man was located on the roadway with multiple stab wounds and taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the homicide unit is working to identify a suspect.

Investigators say they do not believe there is any risk to public safety. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
